	In August of 1964, actress Anne Bancroft and comedian Mel Brooks were wed. They met in 1961 during rehearsal for the Perry Como show, and remained married for 41 years until Anne died of cancer on June 6, 2005.


Saturday, August 1st, 1964
4.15 p.m.	Call from Nick Malooley re: kids are stealing the lantern bombs that he has around his shovel on South Rd. He just went over to put more on. Would like to have the police check this once in a while. This is the second time they have been taken. Informed Jim Oliver.

Sunday, August 2nd, 1964
12.48 p.m.	Call from Mrs. Seeley-78 Jamieson Rd. re: lost his buff colored cocker spaniel-leather collar-may have a Pa. lic tag as they just moved here. It was an old dog and has to teeth. Tel. 9-5186.
10.05 p.m.	Call from Steve Novak re: John Sandstrom-Bond Rd. would like to have the cruiser meet him at Wagners Gas Station as he has a hired hand that he wants to get rid of. Called No. 1 and Pettis and Jim Oliver went up.
11.00 p.m.	Call from Mr. Seeley-78 Jamieson Rd. re: police found his dog okay and to thank us.

Monday, August 3rd, 1964
1.10 a.m.	Call from Mr. Hunt-53 Raymond St. re: boy at his house that confesses to breaking in and would like to have the cruiser come down. Called No. 1.
8.00 a.m.	Call from Mr. Hunt-53 Raymond St. re: would like to have an officer at his house at about 5:00 p.m. today as the boy that confesses to breaking into his house is coming to talk it over. Jim Oliver and Pettis took care of this.
1.15 p.m.	Oliver-Walnut Terrace in re: magazine salesmen that are around. Didn't like their looks and wondered if they were alright. Told him they had been checked out with the Better Business Bureau.
1.50 p.m.	Call from Joe Harrington to see where the fire is. Told him that they hadn't called us but I would call them and for him to call back in five min.
1.52 p.m.	Called to find out where the fire is. It is in woods on Salisbury St. near Jordans. Called No. 1 and when Joe Harrington called back I told him.
2.30 p.m.	Fire whistle for more help on the same fire.
5.30 p.m.	Call from Mrs. Hall-Bascom Parkway re: she gave a check to a magazine salesman for a magazine and she made out check to Jack S. Lay but the receipt was signed by F. Welwig. Wondered if this was alright. Told her that we had checked with the Better Business Bureau on them and that they were supposed to be alright.

Tuesday, August 4th, 1964
11.55 a.m.	Call from Donald Williams of the Better Business Bureau in Worcester re: magazine salesmen that are working in Holden right now. He advises that we order them out of Holden immediately as they have received many complaints about them as we have. He said that they are falsely representing orphanages, etc. and high pressure people. He also explained that they are not a bonded company and that there is not any guarantee that the people will receive their magazines. When we contact them he wants us to tell them to come in to the BBB or they will be banned from all of Worc. County and Central Mass. and will be exposed on radio and in the newspapers. Called Jim Oliver re: above. He came up and got the cruiser and went out on investigation.
1.40 p.m.	Call from Mrs. Harges-Wyndhurst Dr. re: people selling hooked rugs.

Wednesday, August 5th, 1964
10.20 p.m.	Call from Holden St. re: kids are throwing water baloons at cars. On left just past Chaffins School. Called Jack Oliver in No. 1.
10.30 p.m.	Call from 9 Short St. to send cruiser right away.

8.15 a.m.	Call from Gazette - no news.

Saturday, August 8th, 1964
11.30 p.m.	Call from Willard Ware-Salisbury St. re: car just drove in drive on Newell Rd. opp. Smiths and put lights out. Would like to have this checked. Sent No. 1.

Sunday, August 9th, 1964
12.10 a.m.	Call from Holden Hospital re: just had a gunshot wound brought in. Called car no 1 to go to hospital.
12.15 a.m.	Call from car no. 1 re: shooting took place in Sterling-Clements Ave. People involved from Sterling. Told me to call Sterling police re: same. Called Sterling Police. Said they would send a cruiser over to the Hospital.
9.35 a.m.	Call from Paxton Police Dept- Chief Oatley re: Water Dept. sign found on their common. Will notify J. Oliver re: same. Is now at Town Hall in Paxton.

Monday, August 10th, 1964
12.50 p.m.	Call from Mrs. Steward who lives in one of the small houses at Pekkolas re: shooting at night and everyone yelling at her at night. Told her to call us if she heard any shooting at night. I think it is all her imagination after talking to her for a few minutes.
2.45 p.m.	Call from acting District nurse re: reports of dog bites.

Tuesday, August 11th, 1964
1.00 a.m.	Call from telephone repair man re: if the phone is out of order. Said that girl on switchboard reported it out of order. Told him that it is not out of order. He said that it must have been that I was just on the phone and the girl must have thought it out of order.
9.15 a.m.	Call from Mrs. Stedt-S. Main St. re: white angora cat came in her yard and died. Informed Jim Oliver.
11.30 a.m.	Call from Mrs. Osland-Chestnut Hill Rd. re: white cat hanging around neighborhood for two days. Is a pest. Howls all the time and they are afraid of it. Informed Jim Oliver.
10.55 p.m.	Call from S.P. re: boy walking from Holden to Tatnuck in some kind of trouble. Sent car no 1.

Wednesday, August 12th, 1964
10.45 a.m.	Call from Mrs. Osland-Chestnut Hill Dr. re: white cat again. Have Steve pick it up.
1.25 p.m.	Call from Trooper Dadeo-S.P. re: name of alleged prostitute on Holden St. Checked log and gave him name of Carol Gothbright-318A Holden St.

Thursday, August 13th, 1964
9.37 a.m.	Call from Raymond Hurley-7 Montello St.-Worc. re: if we had any stray dogs is looking for one. If we have one that we have to get rid of call him. Tel. SW1-3485.
10.55 p.m.	Call from Shrewsbury St. re: sounded like accident near WTAG towers. Called No. 1.
10.56 p.m.	Call from Blanchard-483 Shrewsbury St. re: car just hit three mailboxes in front of house and continued on toward West Boylston without stopping. Think the car was damaged. The mailboxes are in the street. Told them that the cruiser was on the way down there now.

Friday, August 14th, 1964
3.30 a.m.	Call from Mrs. Egan-Surrey Lane re: all the dogs in the neighborhood are barking and she is alone. Would like to have the cruiser come down and check for something going on or prowlers. Called Jim Oliver.
11.35 p.m.	Call from Mrs. R.K. Smith re: white car pulled in the old Illsley house next door and no one got out and it has been there for an hour. She is worried about same. Called car no.1 to investigate.

Saturday, August 15th, 1964
1 p.m.	Mrs. George, 2 olddogs. Patricia McCarthy Main St. and Martin White.

Sunday, August 16th, 1964
7.30 a.m.	Call from Bob Anderson re: he will be taking some furniture out of his brothers home who is away on vacation. Thought he had better let us know in case someone called as his brother is on vacation and having police look after his house.
1.20 p.m.	Call re: if swimming awards are to be given today.

Monday, August 17th, 1964
1.00 a.m.	Call from State Police re: someone is trying to break in home of King on 25 Oregon Trail. If person is Thomas Maher please let SP know. Called Russ Hammond in Car no. 1 to investigate.
8.30 a.m.	Call from Mr. Weatherby at Food Fair re: break-safe was blown up. Called Jim Oliver to investigate.
8.35 a.m.	Call from SP re: break at Food Fair. Wants to know if we have sent someone and whether they want finger print man to assist. Jim Oliver was here getting cruiser at the time so he talked to him. Asked them to send finger print man to meet him.
2.30 p.m.	Call from Mrs. David Kellogg-High Ridge Rd. re: boys riding up and down street in front of her house and they are scaring her children by threatening to knock them over on their bikes. Older boys are R. Rabidou-Kazmarek.
10.30 p.m.	Call from Joe Pacquette-221 Lovell Rd. re: his little brother was sleeping out in the back yard and they just went out and he is gone. Would like to have cruiser help search for him.
10.40 p.m.	Call from Joe Pacquette re: his little brother just sneaked back into the tent.

Tuesday, August 18th, 1964
1.30 a.m.	Call from Mrs. Thomas Kimball who is in Worcester at home of her sister-19 Cheever St. She said that her husband is at their home at 126 Arizona Ave. is drinking very heavily and has two loaded guns and is coming in after her with the guns. Called No. 1 who also had me contact Jim Oliver re: what action to take. Jim Oliver called Worcester Police re: above who will go to 19 Cheever St.
2.05 a.m.	Call from sister of Mrs. Thomas Kimball at 19 Cheever St. Re; Mr. Kimball was at her house and has not returned to Holden. Informed Jim Oliver and Russ Pettis and they went to Arizona Ave to wait for him.
3.00 a.m.	Call from Sgt. Armitage-State Police re: they just received a call that Kimball has another pistol even after the two guns which Oliver and Pettis took away from him. He has called his wife in Worc. that he is taking pistol and coming after her. If you need assistance call the State Police and they will help.
4.10 a.m.	Call from Sgt. Armachek-Worc. Police re: would like to have Holden Police pick up Kimball as he calls every few minutes to home on 19 Cheever St. and threatening Mrs. Kimball while his officers are there and the whole household is very upset. Informed Jim Oliver of this. Jim said that he didn't think Kimball had any more guns as his father said that the two guns they took away were all he owned. Jim and Pettis to go back to Arizona Ave and wait for Kimball to come out as he has said that he is going to Worc. to get wife. Jim and Pettis out again.
4.27 a.m.	Call from Sgt Armachek-Worc. Police to inform Jim Oliver that Worc. Police just picked up Kimball in Worc. and will lock him up.
3.45 p.m.	Call from Millie Welch re: cr pulled out directly in front of her and she had to stop short throwing her baby from seat. The baby was hurt and the driver of the other car did not even stop to see if they were alright. Driver of other car she said was A. Roy McKay. Would like to see police right away. She was very upset. Called Steve in No. 1 to go to meet her.

Wednesday, August 19th, 1964
3.16 p.m.	Call from Mrs. Burke-Holden St. re: suspicious man at her house this afternoon while she was out. Man asked her mother a lot of questions and said that he was a telephone man. She checked with phone company and they said that he could not be a telephone man or he would have been in a telephone company car. He was driving a new white car reg. 11193. Wants Jim Oliver to look up number. Will have Jim call her after 6 p.m.
3.40 p.m.	Call from Mrs. Burke again. She wants to talk to Oliver right away, not at 6:00 as this is a very serious affair. Wants man arrested for impersonating this same man at her husbands place and her husband was signing some papers he had. She seemed very mixed up and really told me some wild stories re: her experiences.

Thursday, August 20th, 1964
10.55 p.m.	Call from Mrs. Koenig-Malden St. re: cars are drag racing on Malden St. right now. Sent McCauley in No. 1.
11.50 p.m.	Call re: loose horse on N. Main St. near Millbrook St. Sent No. 1.

Friday, August 21st, 1964
11.40 a.m.	Call from Holden Clinic re: Malicious Mischief last night again. Exit sign and others taken. Informed Jim Oliver.
11.15 p.m.	Call from Walter Carlson-158 Holden St. re: he is on strike from the Wire Mill and has received many nuisance calls tonight. Would like to have cruiser check his area tonight frequently. Called No. 1 re: same.

Saturday, August 22nd, 1964
6.30 a.m.	Call from Don Gordon-318 Holden St. re: there is a car parked in his driveway with someone asleep in it and he would like to have someone come down and remove it at once as he can not get out to go to work. Called Jim Oliver.
11.10 a.m.	Call re: which side of street bicycles ride on.

Monday, August 24th, 1964
5.10 p.m.	Call from Mrs. Burke re: someone has stolen her genuine christening papers from her house. Said her husband knew where they were. Said it is very important. Wants to talk to Jim.
6.05 p.m.	Call from Mrs. Burke again.
6.15 p.m.	Call from Walter Carlson-158 Holden St. re: he has been tipped that his house is to be picketed tonight. Will call if he is and we will send cruiser.

Tuesday, August 25th, 1964
9.00 a.m.	Call from Don Metcalf re: someone broke into First Baptist Church last night. Ministers office was ransacked. Called Jim Oliver to investigate.
3.00 p.m.	Call from Bert Fiske-custodian at Regional High School re: burglar alarm will go into operation tonight.
11.00 p.m.	Call from Stone House nursing Home re: one of the nurses just had window in car shattered by shot. Sent Jack Oliver in No. 1.

Wednesday, August 26th, 1964
2.55 a.m.	Call from Robert Burleigh-Doyle Rd. re: dog in pen next door at Roy Norstroms-266 Doyle Rd. Dog has been howling all night and he and his wife have had no sleep. Wife is due to have her baby any time and needs her sleep. Has tried to call Nordstroms and noone answers. Would like something done about it. Called Jim Oliver.
9.40 a.m.	Call from Caroline Bishop-Chapel St. re: children on Brewer Way have home made carts and ride down the street and onto Highland St. She is afraid someone is going to get killed as you can not see them until they are right in front of you. Will have No. 1 check.

Thursday, August 27th, 1964
11.15 a.m.	Call from Ursula-Phillips Rd. re: there is a large bees nest on the Junior High School porperty in field in back of her house and she is afraid that some one is going to get stung badly. She lives in Holts House opposite Rice School. Will inform D. McCauley of same.
1.20 p.m.	Call from Millie Welch re: wants the cruiser to break up gang on bicycles near Fruit St. In particular the Williams boy and David Austin as they are picking on the other kids. Charlene Welch was hit by an apple which was thrown by David Austin had has a large welt on her cheek and they have been scaring the little kids and not letting them by. Sent Steve in No. 1.
1.45 p.m.	Call from Mrs. March-118 Salisbury St. re: boys which were going through her property. When she asked them to leave, they were very fresh. She is worried about same. Wants to talk to an officer. Will inform Jim Oliver.

Friday, August 28th, 1964
9.25 a.m.	Call from Mrs. Albert Smith-148 Salisbury St. re: kids on way to pool (she thinks) pulled up her flowers by the roots yesterday morning while she was gone. Would like cruiser to check by there in mornings.
10.45 p.m.	Call from John A. Hunt Jr. re: he just saw a car throw bag of beer cans on Doyle Rd. Reg. #995517. He said that he lives on Doyle Rd. and people are continually throwing rubbish on his and others property.

Saturday, August 29th, 1964
9.25 a.m.	Call from Mrs. Mark Clapp-Reservoir St. re: man just fell off his motorcycle and is laying in the road. Sent Jim Oliver.

Sunday, August 30th, 1964
11.45 p.m.	Call from Nathan Bascom-Armington Lane re: parkers outside his house again making so much noise that they can't sleep. Sent Pettis in No. 1.

Monday, August 31st, 1964
11.15 p.m.	Fire at home of Layton-Bailey Rd.
